Steven S. Forbes – Founder & Owner, Master Barber, Mentor

Steven S. Forbes is more than a master barber — he’s the vision and heartbeat behind The Master’s Touch.

Born and raised in what is now Norfolk’s Diggs Town Park, Steve was shaped by the challenges of the streets and the lessons of survival. At just 18 years old, he was sentenced to prison — a turning point that would ultimately become the foundation of his transformation.

Behind bars, Steve found purpose. He gave his life to God, committed to rebuilding from the inside out, and began sharpening not only his mind but his hands. After serving four years, he came home determined to do it differently. He got his start in the industry by riding a bike to work at Cut Creators, where he learned the art, the business, and the discipline of barbering from the ground up.

Over time, his skill sharpened — but so did his vision.

He didn’t just want to cut hair. He wanted to create a space — a space for mentorship, for manhood, and for men of all ages to feel seen, respected, and renewed. That vision became Master’s Touch Barbershop — a full-service grooming experience and a state-licensed barber school serving Chesapeake and the other Hampton Roads.

Today, Steve leads with integrity, humility, and purpose. His story of redemption is woven into every part of the shop — from the precision of the cuts to the energy of the environment. Whether he’s mentoring a young man through their first fade or guiding a student toward licensure, Steve brings passion, presence, and a deep belief that every person deserves a second chance.

This isn’t just a barbershop story — it’s a testimony of grace, growth, and calling.

Why Choose Master’s Touch?

At Master’s Touch, you’re not just getting a haircut — you’re stepping into a space that honors culture, community, and the people who hold us down.

We serve sons, brothers, uncles, and elders — but we never forget who often brings them through the door. Black mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and caregivers… we see you. We serve with pride because we know who we’re accountable to.

Our barbers don’t just cut — they connect. Whether it’s a boy’s first fade, a midweek lineup, or a quiet conversation that turns into life guidance, this is where confidence is built.

We’re also a licensed barbershop school — shaping futures behind the chair, not just in front of it. Here, mentorship is part of the cut. Leadership is part of the vibe.

Because this isn’t just about how you look —
it’s about how you feel, who you become, and who’s rooting for you.
